With SATA interface, WD Scorpio Blue drives offer high-performance, low power consumption, and cool operation, perfect for notebooks and other portable devices. Pick the drive that suits your needs with the confidence in knowing that all WD Scorpio Blue drives are built to the highest standards of quality and reliability.Whether they are in an external drive or a notebook computer, WD Scorpio Blue SATA drives offer the most available capacity for space-hungry operating systems with plenty of room left over for photos, music, and video. In a notebook drive, silence is golden. WD's exclusive WhisperDrive combines state-of-the-art seeking algorithms to yield one of the quietest 2.5-inch hard drives on the market. These algorithms also optimize the way a drive seeks for data, which significantly improves power consumption. So now silence (and longer battery life) is golden.WD's ShockGuard technology protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks. WD's SecurePark parks the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down, and when the drive is off. This ensures the recording head never touches the disk surface resulting in improved long-term reliability due to less head wear, and improved non-operational shock tolerance.

If you own a PS3 buy this drive!!
Works great in my PS3. Very quiet and fast.
One side note I had to put the newest firmware update on a usb thumb drive and connect it to my PS3 for it to be able to boot up. I think this is with models made in 2008 and up because I watched videos on how to install the hard drive and none of them mentioned having to update the firmware. But if you google "ps3 hard drive system software cannot be run correctly" you will find tons of other people with the same problem.
Works great for PS3
I just replaced mine 40GB PS3 drive a couple weeks ago with this and it worked fantastically.
Just a few notes about the process. You *can* re-download anything you have purchased, but a better way is to do a full harddrive backup using the PS3 backup utility. I didn't have a spare hard drive or flash drive large enough to accomplish this, but I do have a 60GB 5th Gen ipod, and it worked fine. There are plenty of tutorials online that show how to do it, including a great one on youtube that helped me out.
Two things to know if you go that route, make sure to sync all your trophies on all accounts before you backup, as all trophy data is NOT backed up. When you play each game for the first time after you backup/restore, it will reinstall the trophies on your local system and then you must re-sync to pull them back down from the PSN.
Unfortunately, this will mean that trophies you got on games you rented or borrowed will never show up on your local PS3 system again (unless you re-get the game), but they still show on your PSN profile and factor into your overall ranking.
Hope this helps.
Great upgrade for PS3
I bought this hard drive to upgrade my PS3. It works great and was very simple to install. It seems well built and runs quietly, I have had no problems. I would recommend this drive to anyone looking to upgrade.
