Great Tool5
When I found I could print small PDF file booklets with a HP 1320 printer using both sides of the paper and selecting the option for "booklet printing" I was ecstatic... but of course one needs a long reach stapler. This is the one I opted to try and it was an excellent choice. I buy many electronic and industrial tools of this quality and often for five times the cost. This is a great value, very well made (in China of course) and welcome addition to my office. One standard sheet of paper is now 4 pages in a small booklet. This thing will pay for itself in no time!

Get A Life3
I can't believe I am sitting here writing a review of a stapler. But there you are, reading it.

I was looking into a saddle stapler for making some self-produced CD booklets, but found them to be a little pricey for what is at this point only a hobby. So, I hit Amazon looking for alternatives and found this item. I'm a fairly serious office supply geek but had managed to avoid ever noticing one of these little guys before.

It works pretty well, and I won't get in to the Swingline/Bostich debate here, Milton. I have assembled a dozen or so 8 page booklets that were printed on "brochure" style glossy paper, and once I dialed in where the staple shoots, it was perfectly acceptable. The spring-steel depth gauge is a little inaccurate for something like this, so I just put a mark on the nose of the unit exactly where the staple hits. Looking at it, I immediately thought, "I coulda made one for less" since it is just a medium duty desk stapler re-attached to two 17 inch pieces of steel which also act as a return spring. The wiggliness of a long spring like this is moderately irritating, but I can't think of a better way to do it for cheap.

All in all, it should be a little less pricey, but it certainly serves its purpose. 3 stars for a less-than-elegant design solution. But, what did you expect, Bang & Olufsen?

Works great5
Easy to load, and easily staples through 40 sheets of ordinary printer/fax paper with the Swingline S.F. 4 premium staples. Has screw holes for mounting, rubber pads so it doesn't scratch your surface, and a paper stop for accurate stapling up to 12 inches from edge of paper. Good, solid, metal construction. If need be, you could use it for self defence. :)

I was a little worried about buying this since I have a Swingline desk stapler that wasn't performing so well. I was bending staples on only 10 sheets. However, it turns out that the premium staples make a big difference--I loaded them into my desk stapler and it now does 30 sheets without a whole lot of trouble (but the long reach does 40 sheets easier than the desk model does 30).

In short, this Swingline model does what it does well. It is perfect for small booklets, repairing magazines, etc.
