Bring your audio and video to life with an excellent HDMI DVD player for your TV. When you use an HDMI port for connectivity with your 1080p capable TV. this Philips DV5982 DVD Player will upconvert an ordinary DVD to appear as if it were native to 1080p. This extremely compact player plays a wide variety of DVD discs as well as DiVX discs. It can also double as a CD player and will even play CD-R discs that have encoded MP3 files. So when you add this component to your home-theater system, it delivers outstanding, versatile audio and video performance. Then there's more! Great player, Bad remote ontrol
This player works great. So far there are no problems with it. It also plays movies that i was unable to play on a different dvd player. The only problem i have with this player is the remote control. I mean it looks and feels cheap. But really it doesnt work that great when you press it. I have to press play a few times before it actually goes on while another time there are no probems. But when you do get the movie on, the quality of the movie is great.
GOOD 'N' CHEAP
I only buy a component when I absolutely have to. Usually, they cost to much money for the requirements I place on said component so I save and scrimp and work a little overtime until I have enough cash. I dont like the idea of credit or credit cards (THANKS DAVE RAMSEY.COM). I want to OWN what I buy and I only want to buy once. These days above the curve happens every 10 seconds so I threw in the towel and aimed at one point in time, saved my money and bought this Phillips upconverter. It does everything it says it does easily but I found it to be a tad slow to power up and load a DVD. USB works as advertised with same speed issue. I am know to be impatient with new family members so take it as you like. It looks smart in piano black, works good and doesn't make alot of dam noise to do it. The remote is small but if your like me you don't care as long as it has EVERY function available on it and my universal can learn it. So far, again, This little whit/grey/bland remote performs its functions with one bump, direction, angle and distance restrictions. With new batteries I found myself having to find the correct trajectory to lob its old, infrared signal to the DVD unit. My universal hasen't been used yet. I would get the next up-version with the ability to play all media formats of video through USB. This little guy won't do it all but almost. happiness is.
Cut up your credit cards and save your hard earned cash, then buy the next model up if you can wait for the price to drop [...].
The economy will thank you and your financial future will start to look a bit more clear and less of a burdon.
Thanks for reading.
awesome awesome
i'd recommend this product to anyone and everyone.
works as a region-free dvd player and plays divx files from cd/dvd/usb.
i plug in my external hard drive to the usb and it basically is converted into my media server.
plays mp3's and movies that are on the external usb hard drive.
i believe it will only recognize FAT32 format, for external hard drives.
i'm not sure about the format issue for usb key/memory sticks.
you will not be unhappy with this product.
however, i have to give it four stars instead of five because of the remote functionality.
either the IR receiver is not sensitive enough or the remote IR transmitter is not strong enough.
unless you point right at the player with the remote, its hard to get responsiveness.
also the remote buttons are too hard to push.
for $40 you can't go wrong with this.
get it now!
