(1976) Johnny Cougar's debut album was a commercial failure. It includes his versions of "Jailhouse Rock" and "Oh, Pretty Woman.

(1978) Johnny Cougar's third album was only released in England. It includes the songs "Born Reckless" and "I Need A Lover," the latter of which was a modest hit in England. That song was added to John's fourth album, which was released in America the following year.

(1980) This album, credited to John Cougar, features the songs "This Time" (#27 in 1980), and "Ain't Even Done With The Night" (#17 in 1981). This version of the album also includes the bonus track "Latest Game.

(1983) This John Cougar Mellencamp album features "Crumblin' Down" (#9 in 1983), "Pink Houses" (#8 in 1983), and "Authority Song" (#15 in 1984). This release also includes the bonus track "Pink Houses" (acoustic version).

(1985) This outstanding album features "Small Town" (#6 in 1985), "Lonely Ol' Night" (#6 in 1985), "R.O.C.K. In The U.S.A." (#2 in 1986), "Rain On The Scarecrow (#21 in 1986), and "Rumbleseat" (#28 in 1986). This release also includes the bonus track "Small Town" (acoustic version).

(1988) On this tribute album to Woody Guthrie and Leadbelly, John Mellencamp does the song "Do Re Mi.

(1989) This strong album features the songs "Jackie Brown," "Pop Singer" (#15 in 1989), and "Let It Out (Let It All Hang Out)." This version of the album includes the bonus track "Jackie Brown" (acoustic version).

(1991) From this point on, all albums are credited to John Mellencamp. This album includes "Love And Happiness," "Get A Leg Up" (#14 in 1991), and "Again Tonight" (#36 in 1992). This release includes the bonus track "Love And Happiness" (London club mix version).

(1992) This soundtrack features the songs "It Don't Scare Me None" and "Nothing's For Free" by John Mellencamp.

(1993) This album includes the songs "When Jesus Left Birmingham," "What If I Came Knocking" and "Human Wheels.

(1994) This raw album features a version of Van Morrison's "Wild Night" (#3 in 1994), which John sang as a duet with Me'Shell Ndegeocello.
