Average customer review:Product Description
Taking advantage of a native RAID controller that preserves computer resources, this compact 2-disk device comes with Hi-Speed USB and faster eSATA 3Gbits connectivity. Simply select your RAID level with the switch on the back. FAST mode supports speed and capacity-demanding applications, such as uncompressed SD video editing. Ideal for saving important digital libraries, SAFE mode mirrors data so if one disk fails, data remains accessible on the second one. Data redundancy can even be immediately rebuilt with a hot-swappable spare disk. For higher flexibility, the SAFE33/50 modes create two partitions: BIG for regular data and SAFE for data security. The heat sink metal design naturally draws heat away from the hard disk's internal components to help keep it cool and improve reliability. It can be stacked or rack mounted.

Customer Reviews
2 bad drives in a row, gave up and requested refund
The first unit arrived with a loose drive lock, it would not engage securely. Amazon sent replacement, which was sealed but not packed correctly, with a rumpled manual and used cords. Called LaCie and asked about the serial number, they admitted it was a customer return that had been sent out for sale as a "new" device! The second unit would not format for Safe 100 and overheated, fan would not come on. Tech support agreed it was faulty, but the only exchange terms LaCie offered would have me waiting until after July 4 for a replacement, and no pick up service. I say No Way - enough is enough. I would not trust another LaCie drive after this experience.
