Easiest way to layout square walls. Lay it on the floor, clamp it to your new wall or put it on a tripod, line up the level with one wall and mark your new wall at a perfect right angle.

This is my favorite laser tape. You can use the laser dot to project a spot on the exact distance you want to measure. Tip - If your basement is longer or wider than 50' you can stand in the center of room and measure to both walls. This is the fastest way to measure a basement.

This is a nice set that comes with a long 78" level perfect for leveling walls as well as a shorter level that is just the right size for working on door frames. Stabila is my favorite level.

This is a great all-around tool that you can use to measure your basement out when you start as well as layout for other items. It works best for horizontal layout lines. I like to nail this one to the wall at the ceiling height in the center of the wall and I can easily mark the ceiling layout line from corner to corner.

This little laser is very handy when you need a quick crossed line layout.
