Many devices such as up-converting DVD players, HD-DVD and Blue Ray DVD players, HD cable boxes, camcorders, etc., now offer HDMI connectivity. It includes an NTSC/ATSC/QAM HD tuner for local HD broadcasts, and in some locations, digital cable without a set-top box.

I don't recommend viewing movies on the built-in screen unless you're starving for entertainment and your choices are limited. It's too small. But as a music player and music back-up system, it's the best.

The Palm Z22 is the one for you (and for me). It has all the functions you'll need to plan your schedule, set alarms and dates (assuming she's available), and even store a few pictures. Con: it's practically impossible to replace the battery unless you're a seasoned hacker.

You can shoot in HDV 1080i or standard definition DV. Try finding another HDV camcorder at this price, with a 24p/30p option... it doesn't exist. If you like to edit on Apple's Final Cut Pro you will need the Canon codec, or use Prores 422.
