Boring...
I went to about pg 110 thinking it had to get better based on all the positive reviews but there is no interesting character development or plot going on here. I don't even like the characters. As someone else mentioned, the writing is not very good. I have read so much better.
Not a werewolf fan but...
This book was not what I expected. After reading what the book was about I thought it would be some romance between the auto mechanic and the wolf that shows up on her door, that is what everyone was painting. Instead, this book is a bit of a complicated mystery which had me rereading parts of it. I think this is a great start to a series, which I hope continues to get better and better. The main character is very likable and unique, she is NOT a tough cookie like everyone other heroine coming out lately, which is refreshing. I stayed away from this series for a long time, I'm not sure why, but I'm glad I decided to give it a try. Everyone who gave this 4 or 5 stars is right on the money! Read it!
Angieville: MOON CALLED
I'm still all tingly from the excitement of finding MOON CALLED. It is the first in a paranormal series about a girl named Mercy Thompson. Mercy is a VW mechanic and a walker, meaning she can shift into a coyote at will. Though not part of a pack, she was raised by one and lives across a field from the leader of the local werewolf pack. Werewolves, vampires, and other miscellaneous fae abound in Mercy's world and they all seem to want a piece of her, literally and figuratively. What makes this series the best urban fantasy I've read all year is the combination of Briggs' sophisticated writing, humor, and palpable tension (all the best kinds) woven into the narrative without ever delving down into the crass or gratuitous. They remind me of Sunshine meets a squeaky clean Sookie Stackhouse book. I loved them, couldn't get them out of my head for weeks.
