Customer Reviews

I ask myself5
Is it possible that this system of stars actually is being corrupted by rival companies' employees that put one star to every product of this company (even doing copy/paste with their reviews)?

I mean, I own a lot of hard drives (Seagate, Toshiba, WD, Fujitsu, Maxtor), some of them have more than 13 years, and none of them have crashed or nothing alike... Well, except one that took a fall from my hands.

I'm kinda suspicious, because with this rate of supposedly sucky hard drives (and the horrible publicity it carries), WD should have gone broke years ago.

Own 4 of them. 3 have failed1
In over 20 years of buying drives from every manufacturer on the planet, these drives and this company are the worst I have ever seen. I bought 4 of them long time ago, and 2 failed in the first year. Awful drives, lame company. I am a Seagate man now (again) and I'm quite happy :)

Uggh1
I bought this drive in an apparently vain attempt to add some storage to my aging Athlon 700 box which has been chugging away on a Quantum Fireball 20G drive for some 8 years now. Well I got the bios to detect it, I got partition magic 7.0 to partition it. First sign of trouble, I try to copy the c: partition over. Fails. Ok, partition magic is sometimes trouble. I re-partition it. Decide alright, I"ll move some files over, free up some disk space and try again. YEEHA success, or so I thought. I go ahead and move files over to the drive, stuff I've recently done, nothing I can't duplicate, but stuff I didn't want to have to do the work over again, (ripping vinyl), If you know vinyl records, it's best not to play them too much. So ok, that's alright. I resize the partition, attempt to copy over the boot partition again, and BANG computer freezes, I have to force shutdown, and waddaya know DATA GONE!
Going forward, I think, ok that was probably my fault, should have been safer about moving data around so cavalierly. So, partition again, thinking I'd install windows on it fresh, setup freezes. OK ONE MORE TIME! Partition as storage only, that worked once. Ok looking good, try to copy a large file, freeze, try to copy same large file to my existing drive, works, large file to new drive once again..... you guessed it my friends.

NEVER BUY WD DRIVES!
