![]() | RidgeRest Closed Cell Foam Sleeping Pad - In Your Choice of Sizes
Buy new: $19.94 - $34.94 This is listed under several names on Amazon, but either the RidgeRest or RidgeRest Deluxe roll up pretty tightly, weigh nothing, are indestructible, pretty cheap, and a *lot* softer than sleeping on the ground. Use a piece of rope to tie it up.
|
![]() | 550lb. Type III Paracord

![]() | Petzl E47 PS Tikka Plus 4-LED Headlamp, Soft

![]() | Energizer Rechargeable AAA Batteries (4-pk.)
Buy new: $15.95 / Used from: $15.58 Rechargeable batteries for that headlamp. Keep two in the lamp, and two in your bag as a backup. I keep the two backup batteries in a second small LED light, just in case, because having no light can be a rough situation.

For example, you can use it to clip your pack to a tree branch, clip your enamel cup to the outside of your pack, or attach your headlamp to the top of the tent. Also, clipping your keys inside your pack, so they're hard to lose and easy to find.

![]() | Off! Deep Woods for Sportsmen Insect Repellent I, Pump Spray - 95% DEET - 1 fl oz
Buy new: $6.78 DEET is a chemical that makes you invisible to bugs, and bug spray is darn nice to have any time you're hiking past or sleeping near standing water. As a warning, chemical bug sprays tend to dissolve plastics. Like shoes. And shirts. And pretty much all other camping gear. It takes a lot of spray or a lot of time, but yeah. Oops.
