Product Description

It's 2008 and it's time to hit home runs as 2KG Major League Baseball 2K8 brings you your best season ever. Thrilling features have been added to make this season more exciting. Are you out or in? Joe Morgan is announcing 2K8! Play ball!
Team play is more expansive as there are 90 minor-league teams added to the game, including authentic uniforms, many authentic minor-league stadiums, and a few generic ones as well. 2K8 also features a new baseball-card system, in which you can earn players' cards by completing certain tasks. You can then sell duplicate cards for credits to buy new card packs, which consist of 10 cards and may include a stadium or special team. But by far the coolest part of the card system is the online card battles. When you have enough player cards to fulfill the requirements of a full team, you can then combine your cards to create a team and take head-to-head against other gamers' card teams online. An entirely new and unique pitching interface which is unlike anything that's been done before. The main input comes from the right analog stick. The execution involves matching a gesture to throw the desired pitch. This enables a lot more granularity from the input than a digital face-button approach.
Revolutionizing your control of the 5 tools in baseball are brand new pitching, fielding and base running controls and completely overhauled batting interface. Featuring a totally unique trading card mode, robust Minor League system, all-new Signature Style animations for 2008, and more! 90 Minor League teams available in both Franchise and Exhibition modes Over 1 MILLION online gamers in the 2K community for head-to-head games

Major League Baseball 2K8 takes full advantage of the Wii remote with fun, new gameplay controls.

Features:

  • Pitching - To pitch, players simply point the Wii Remote at the screen, pull back to start the pitcher's motion, then flick the Wii Remote forward. The quicker the player flicks the remote, the more velocity and movement the pitch will have. The Nunchuk can be used to view a player’s pitch arsenal and to select which pitch to throw.
  • Batting - Swinging for the fences with Major League Baseball 2K8 on Wii will provide fans with even more fun when they control the Wii Remote as if they were swinging a real bat. The Nunchuk acts to control the direction of the ball.
  • Fielding - While controlling their designated player using the Nunchuk, players can snag fly balls and use the Wii Remote to throw to the appropriate base. Players can use Major League Baseball 2K8's "Smart Throw" technology to throw to the best base by simply flicking the Wii Remote or can manually choose which base to throw to by pressing a direction on the directional pad.
  • Baserunning - Players can control the speed of their baserunning by shaking the Wii Remote and Nunchuk simultaneously, then pushing both controllers to slide.
  • Best Booth in the Business - 2K Sports proudly brings back the duo Jon Miller and Hall of Famer Joe Morgan to the broadcast booth, delivering the deepest commentary available.

very exciting , simply the best gameplay4
EXCELLENT GAME, have some issues at first batting and base running but after 2 games youll get used to it its all about timing, GAME PLAY SIMPLY THE BEST there IS, that why wii is the best console.

fun4
Alot of fun. I feel like I'm right in the game.
But don't use the bat!

A noble effort - but expected a little more3
I was, as others, very excited for a good baseball game for Wii and I got most of what I asked for along with some disappointment:

- no on-line is the biggest fault (in this day and age?)
- some of the timings are off, infielders seem slow, double play impossible
- the amount of home runs is unrealistic
- hitting takes a long time to master (and don't get rusty or you start from scratch)
- lacking some minor league and other features that XBOX and PS3 get

On the plus side:
- the Wii SIM with the remotes keeps you on your toes the entire game
- I think the pitching is very good - you aim where the ball breaks and then the pitch dives, curves or cuts appropriately. That's like the real thing

I presume next year's will be a bit better and more game makers will explore the Wii capability. If you need a baseball fix, go ahead and buy. If you have enough to keep you busy, you can pass.
