The DGE-520T is a cost-effective with scalable migration. As an inexpensive alternative solution to fiber-optic, the card allows you to instantly upgrade to Gigabit without requiring you to install new, expensive fiber cables. Gigabit Ethernet uses your existing Category-5 cabling while providing you with 10/100/1000Mbps network speed auto-sensing and full/half duplex auto-negotiation.

With advanced features and security, the DGE-530T supports SNMP for remote troubleshooting and management, ACPI for lower power consumption, and WoL for remote wake. This helps to lower total cost of ownership (TCO). The card also features on-board screening of VLAN Tagged Ethernet frames, allowing you to assign multiple subnets to each server and isolate devices within each VLAN from the rest of the network for better traffic control and security. It also supports 802.1p Priority Tagging to allow you to prioritize traffic. The card also features embedded flow control and independent FIFO, providing a means to protect against possible data loss during transmission on the network. With the Cable Diagnostic feature, the card will automatically detect whether you have a bad cable, making your troubleshooting task easier.

I have no complaints
Didn't even have to use the cd. This works great and will keep using this product. I had 2 onboard nics fail on me for some reason and had to put this in the computer.

compatible with Window Server 2003
I purchased the D-Link NIC after initially getting two Netgear gigabit NICs (for a Vista Ultimate workstation and Windows 2003 Server). The Netgear GA311 NIC had Vista, but no Windows Server 2003 drivers. Amazon provided an RMA for the second Netgear NIC and I purchased the D-Link NIC which installed without incident on my Windows 2003 Server.

The Vista workstation, Windows Server 2003 and a NAS RAID box are connected via two Netgear gigabit switches at two locations. Unfortunately, both NICs are PCI (not PCIe) and will not be able to perform at full gigabit speeds; aside from this, the upgrade is still a significant performance upgrade from 100Mbit NICs and I hope to see my backup and file transfer durations drop to about a third of what they are now.

Great Network Adapter
This adapter works very well. I installed in a system which runs Ubuntu 7.04, and it recognized the card with ease. The only problem I had was that it didn't quite fit into my case, but that probably has more to do with the fact that I have a microATX motherboard in a full ATX case. Definitely recommend this product.
