The specs for this board look good but the implementation is lacking
I'm not sure where I should even start with the issues I had with this board. I wanted to use this MB with a Intel Q9550 processor. The first problem is that it would not allow the CPU multiplier to be set higher than 8.0 so the CPU would not run faster than about 2.6. On top of that just about any change to the system would require the CMOS to be reset. When I say any change I mean adding a hard drive, going from 2 sticks of DDR2 to 4, adding a second video card, etc. Once I finally got things running the system was not even close to stable. I never got to a point where I could even try to overclock this configuration.

I returned the XFX MB and purchased an ASUS Rampage Formula. Swapped out the motherboard, installed the same EQ and was easily able to OC my 2.8 processor to 3.6. The total ASUS build time (including installing Vista 64 and overclocking) was about 5 hours... I wasted 6 days dealing with the XFX. Stay away from this motherboard.

BEST DDR2 Motherboard You Can Buy!!!
Guys, and Girls, when looking for a motherboard, you need to consider the memory it can use. The least expensive GAMING memory you can buy today is DDR2. There is no question that you'll want a DDR2 Motherboard that can go up to 1200Mhz for Memory, though the most common DDR2 is 800Mhz and 1066Mhz memory. You can find Memory as low as $9.99 after mail in rebate for the high end gaming memory as well.

With all of that memory talk, let me tell you why the 780i is the best board you can get. Let's talk video cards, NVIDIA is the ONLY WAY TO GO!!!
Don't even consider anything other than a GeForce video card by NVIDIA, namely XFX if you want the best of the best. With that said, you'll want an NVIDIA based motherboard and the 780i is the best of the DDR2 / SLI Dual Video Card motherboards out there!

If you don't know about XFX, then do your research, of the NVIDIA manufacturers available today, XFX stands behind their product not only for a lifetime, but for Double Lifetime!!! Meaning you'll get to pass the Lifetime warranty onto the next customer for video cards. Their motherboard warranty is also the best.

Having said all that, if you are going to buy a new motherboard and build a new system, then you HAVE to get this motherboard!!!

XFX Wins Again
This really is a good motherboard and XFX is the king of customer service. I build rigs for others quite a bit and have NEVER had issues with RAM compatibility (I use Mushkin, OCZ and Corsair), SATA drives of any sort and if one more person whines about air cooling being "loud" I'm gonna scream =) The 780i chipset is basically everything good from the 680i chipset plus Intel Yorkfield processor support.

If you're an enthusiast this is the mobo for you. Dual NIC's, overclocks with the best of 'em, 3-way sli ready, Intel Yorkfield processor support and is overall one of the most stable motherboards I have worked with.

If you have any doubts be sure to google reviews for this motherboard, most review sites recommend this board. I have learned to take product reviews from online stores with a few grains of salt.
