BioShock lets you do the impossible as you explore a mysterious underwater city. When your plane crashes, you discover Rapture - an underwater Utopia torn apart by civil war. Caught between powerful forces and hunted down by genetically modified "splicers" and deadly security systems, you have to come to grips with a deadly, mysterious world filled with powerful technology and fascinating characters. As little girls loot the dead, and biologically mutated citizens ambush you at every turn. Now you're trapped, caught in the middle of a genetic war that will challenge both your capacity to survive and your moral allegiance to your own humanity. Make meaningful and mature decisions that culminate in the grand question - do you exploit the innocent survivors of Rapture to save yourself - or risk all to become their savior?

Customer Reviews
A lot of fuss out there, but no problems here...
I'm sure some folks are having compatibility issues with their copy of Bioshock. This has always been one of the challenges of making games for PCs with so many possible combinations of hardware and software. While I don't doubt many of the reviewers here are very knowledgeable with computers--including many like me who build our own computers regularly--I would also have to say that in my experience many people who get frustrated and fire off extremely negative reviews/comments about products just don't have the knowledge or patience to get things to run. Those same people probably complain about a lot of things besides computer games...
The bottom line for me is that I recently purchased the game, installed the game (which DID take quite a while even on my fast computer), and I have been playing it now for hours with ZERO hiccups, BSODs, crashes to the desktop, or any other form of glitch that the PC community has dealt with over the years. It's a terrific game, with a great story, great graphics, and a polish that is truly outstanding. It is unfortunate that some are so focused on the DRM issue--really, how many places do most people install a game? Piracy has driven developers to the extreme. You can complain all you want, but if you were the team spending millions to make a great game, only to have it uploaded to the 'net minutes after release, I think you'd be concerned about protecting your investment, too. Until pirates stop doing that crap then developers are going to keep trying to protect themselves, admittedly with mixed results.
Potential buyers, just read up on the game, try the demo, check out great review sources like metacritics.com, and have fun. Don't let all the negativity turn you off on a great experience--and be PATIENT when first loading the game.
Cheers! And good gaming...
Oh, my system specs for reference: Q6600 Quad Core, EVGA 680i M/B, 4GB RAM, Zotac 9800GTX Amp!, Light-on DVD R/W, 22" LCD, X-Fi, Thermaltake Shark Case, Vista Business 32-Bit, Logitech G15 keyboard, Logitech G5 mouse
Great Game !!!
This game is so different to others, graphics are not so great, but are very good. I like history, but gameplay is a little difficult, ammo is so hard to find and even, it have to be bought from machines.
Installing is a little complicated too, installation requires online activation, I tried too many times to do that, but error messages appears, I had to do it manually by sending an email to securom.com
Overall, Bioshock is great, I recommend it !!! But, make sure you have all PC requirements, they are so high.
limited activation
I played this game on mt friends Xbox 360 and LOVED it. It was innovative, creative and wicked fun. It's not every day you find a game that is genuinely new after you've played a lot of games. The plot was well done, the graphics wonderfully creepy, and the weapons cool. I was looking to buy this game for the PC since I don't have a 360, and am utterly disappointed that the game is DRM. It has limited activation. If I pay for a game, CD, DVD or what ever, I should be able to install it where I want when I want. You can't play it without the CD, so what's the problem? The only people this DRM process punishes are the honest consumers who purchase original copies like I do. I would give it zero stars if I could, that's how much DRM irritates me.
