From the Manufacturer
The 3Dconnexion SpacePilot connects you to the 3D design process like never before. Its optical sensor technology and ergonomic design combine to deliver unprecedented control and fewer distractions.
Use the SpacePilot in your non-dominant hand to position, rotate, pan and zoom your model in one single, fluid motion. Use the mouse with your other hand to simultaneously edit the model or select menu items.
| 50% fewer mouse clicks. 30% more productivity. Gone are the days when 3D navigation meant endless mouse clicks to move around an object or to fly through space and remembering how to change views and control objects within the X, Y, Z axes... one tedious step at a time. Plus, it is no longer necessary to remember different application's unique commands for manipulating 3D objects or scenes. |
With 3Dconnexion's SpacePilot, you simply push, pull, tilt or twist the SpacePilot's controller cap to simultaneously pan, zoom and rotate 3D imagery. You'll unify navigation systems from mulitple 3D programs and experience a natural way to work (and play) in 3D environments using 3Dconnexion's award-winning technology.
3D navigation has never been this intuitive.
Unique adaptive sensing technology gives you the functionality you want, the instant you want it. Commands become available on the LCD and dynamically update as you switch between applications or work in different modes within an application. Plus, an array of extendable, programmable speed keys--including Control, Fit, View and keyboard modifiers - help you stay immersed in your design.
This innovative 3D input device:
- Boosts productivity by over 30%, while reducing mouse usage by 50%
- Unlocks the power of your 3D applications with 21+ speed keys
- Automatically maps functions on keys as applications change
- Enables no-look access to modifier keys on device
- Provides instant positioning of models and scenes with Fit and View keys

| Get your wings in no time at all. 3Dconnexion's Configuration Wizard is an interactive tool that uses animation and imagery to guide you through controller cap movement and configuring your preferences. The Configuration Wizard also provides demonstration applications so you can practice or start using the device right away. Plus, your 3DxSoftware will never be out of date, because 3Dconnexion's Update Wizard keeps you up-to-date on the latest OS and application versions and new features. |

Expensive Paperweight
On a PC - this thing rocks... Cinema 4d takes some creative work arounds which is pretty lame tho - so it gets at least one star. The major disappointment however - is when you're on what is now the major player in our industry - a MAC. Absolutely no support. Wait for years - and their developers still say "Oh yeah - we've been asking companies to help us but they're busy". This is just as it sounds - pure BS.
They've released a product that has become a paperweight for many people who bought it only to realize that something so unthought of is actually true: they don't support Mac OS. Crazy - but true.
Very disappointing product. STAY away from all of 3dconnexion if you're a mac user. They may say they support it - but wait until you get all the fine print.
A sure bet.
If you are a 3d or graphics arts designer, this product is for you! I've been using 3DS Max now for 8yrs and I can't believe how I worked all these years without the Space Pilot! This is a must have gizmo. My work is now faster and more efficient as I'm able to navigate through 3D space at a fraction of the time using the Space Pilot. If all the buttons look intimidating, don't worry. It takes no time to start driving and it comes with all the tools you need to start using it right out of the box. Oh yeah, this will save a you a ton of time and less key strokes too. Get one!
3DConnexion Space Pilot worth the $$$$
The Space Pilot has been great so far. I've used it for about a month and it works really well with Rhino 3D. I was also pleasantly surprised when it worked automatically in our dimension 3D printer's software. Using it in Illustrator /Photoshop has been sluggish, but admittedly pointless as it's easier to move around the 2D space with keyboard shortcuts in my opinion. I had the basic 3Dconnexion Space Navigator prior to buying the space pilot. I would say the Navigator is not worth the $$ considering it only has 2 programmable keys and that's just not enough if you're using a professional CAD tool.
